Gonzaga (37-1) vs. North Carolina (32-7)
9 PM (ET), CBS
University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
Perennial powerhouse North Carolina will be making a trip to familiar territory when they return to the NCAA Finals to face newcomers Gonzaga. Mark Few has led the Zags to the NCAA Tournament for 18 straight years and his team’s only loss this season came against BYU.
However, North Carolina (32-7) knows full well what this situation feels like. The Tar Heels lost in the 2016 championship game on a buzzer-beater by Villanova that the Tobacco Road faithful haven’t forgotten about. UNC came firing back this season with four players averaging double figures in scoring- led by Justin Jackson with 18.3 per game.
Odds-makers have played this one close to the vest and may be sensing that Zags may finally capture that elusive first title. Even still, the no. 1-overall Tarheels will take to the floor as a 2-point favorite.
