TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… DEC 5th: AJ Styles Leaves TNA Wrestling

DATELINE: DEC. 5, 2013 – UNIVERSAL STUDIOS – ORLANDO, FL


At an Impact taping in Orlando, Magnus defeats AJ Styles in a unification match to become the undisputed TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

The loss would be AJ’s final match with the company. Styles became a free agent twelve days later, so by the time the TNA title match airs on January 9th, 2014, Styles had already debuted for his new home, New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Styles would wrestle for NJPW and Ring of Honor over the course of the next two years before joining WWE in at The Royal Rumble in January 2016.
