TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… MARCH 6th: The Sun Rises for New Japan

DATELINE: MARCH 6, 1972 – OTA WARD GYMNASIUM – TOKYO, JAPAN


New Japan Pro Wrestling runs its first ever show, with approximately 5,000 people in attendance.

The card included a main event match that featured Karl Gotch defeating Antonio Inoki. Future legend Tatsumi Fujinami also appeared in the show’s opening match, losing to El Furioso.
