ESPN: Notes from NJPW and Wrestling Dontaku 2018

By TIM FIORVANTI – MAY 4, 2018

espn-app-logoThe second night of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual Dontaku show was eventful, to say the least. Kazuchika Okada continued making history with his 12th consecutive successful IWGP heavyweight championship defense, against Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Post-match, Okada challenged Kenny Omega to a fourth, deciding match in their ongoing rivalry. Their championship rematch will be a 2-out-of-3 falls, no time limit match at Dominion on June 9. Earlier in the night, Chris Jericho returned to attack Tetsuya Naito and Taiji Ishimori joined Bullet Club, with the rest of the group outside of Omega and Cody appearing to settle all differences.
