TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… SEPT. 29th: Flair and the Andersons trap Dusty Rhodes

DATELINE: SEPT. 29, 1985 – THE OMNI -ATLANTA, GA

After Ric Flair defeats Nikita Koloff to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Ivan Koloff and Krusher Kruschev close the cage door and gang up on Flair

In an unlikely turn of events, Dusty Rhodes comes in to save The Nature Boy from the attack. Moments later, Ole and Arn Anderson rushed in, lock the cage, and the Andersons and Flair then turn on and take out Rhodes. Flair applies the figure four leglock until the door was finally opened.

The angle not only set up their matchup at Starrcade, it also planted the seeds for what would eventually become The Four Horsemen.
