WWE already has a replacement in mind for Ronda Rousey.
Rousey is expected to take a temporary hiatus from WWE at some point after WrestleMania 35, and though it now looks like “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” will work at least one pay-per-view after WrestleMania, WWE is wasting no time in establishing her heir apparent. And it may surprise you who that replacement is because it’s not Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Sasha Banks or any other star who’s already proven capable of carrying the women’s division.
It’s main roster newcomer Lacey Evans.
Since first appearing on WWE TV last month, the recent NXT call-up has yet to even have a televised singles match, but Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t 411Mania) reports that WWE has a Roman Reigns-like push planned for the former Marine:
Lacey Evans — you have no idea how big they want Lacey Evans to be…Right now the idea is that you know when Ronda leaves whenever that will be […] the big three will be Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans. Which is you know is kind of a shock and she may not make it, but that’s where they see things.”
Indeed, Evans is reportedly in line for a “super big” push and has even been linked to a potential WrestleMania 35 title match against Asuka, which would mark the second straight year a female superstar wrestled her first main roster match on the grandest stage of them all.
