WWE teased the introduction of a new championship, which would be its 11th main roster title, at Money in the Bank as Hall of Famer Mick Foley will return to do the honors.
While there’s no indication as to what championship this will be, the presence of Mick Foley, who was crowned as the inaugural Hardcore champion in 1998, led to speculation that WWE could be reviving the once-entertaining title which boasted a staggering 240 title reigns among 29 different champions through the use of the 24/7 rule.
In addition to Brock Lesnar’s surprising victory, the tease of WWE’s new championship seems to be yet another response by WWE to its ongoing freefall in viewership.
