Special guest Kelley Harras joins us for a look at the tumultuous history of All Japan Pro Wrestling
By Michael Melchor, Executive Editor
New Japan Pro Wrestling is currently one of the most popular wrestling companies in the world and unquestionably the top promotion in Japan, an apex it has reached off and on in its 47-year history. Once upon a time, the promotion took a backseat to a rival company that very little Western fans speak of today.
Founded by Shoei “Giant” Baba the same year as as its counterpart, All Japan Pro Wrestling has had a tumultuous history that took it from the top of the Japanese heap to near death and back again. Coups, talent exoduses and many more business moves nearly flatlined the company, which has survived and soldiers on under the guidance of one of its most famous competitors.
Joining Executive Editor Michael Melchor for a special look at the history and current state of All Japan Pro Wrestling is Kelly Harras from Voices of Wrestling and the Panels on Pages PoP!-Cast. A mini-PoP!-Cast Wrestling reunion serves as the introduction for how All Japan Pro Wrestling withstood so much to being a healthy and solid company today.
