LUCHA UNDERGROUND – Season 4 Episode 1 Review

By Travis Woolum, Contributing Writer

Stand Back… there’s a Hurricane coming through to bring you the rundown of the Season 4 premiere of Lucha Underground

Antonio Cueto (Father of the late Dario Cueto & new owner of Lucha Underground) runs down his son’s mistakes & vowed not to repeat them & to improve Lucha Underground as a result. Cueto then rundown the Lucha Underground champion Pentagon Jr. & we kick off season 4 with our annual Aztec Warfare (20 man Royal Rumble) & the championship is on the line!!

Opener & Main Event: Pentagon retained over Killshot (Shane Strickland), Da Mack, Son of Havoc (Matt Cross), Joey Ryan, Mr. Pec-Tacular (Jesse Godderz), Tommy Dreamer, Mariposa (Alissa Flash/Raisha Saeed/ Cheerleader Melissa), Vinnie Massaro, Hernandez, Johnny Mundo (Morrison/Nitro/Impact), Ricky Mundo, Rey Fenix, Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan), Mil Muertes (Ricky Banderas/Judas Mesias), Daga, Chavo Guerrero, King Cueno (El Hijo Del Fantasma), Dragon Azteca Jr (El Hijo De Rey Mysterio) & one of my least favorite wrestlers Marty Martinez.

Good match here, although one of the weaker Aztec warfares but some nice surprise entrants, good spots (the pizza one was fun), & most importantly Pentagon got over as a strong, dominant champion with the most eliminations & stuff set up for next week with Pentagon vs Matanza which should be interesting. Also intrigued with where the Antionio Cueto storyline will lead.

Great show here but that’s to be expected with Lucha Underground who delivers every time for the most part. Also it’s an exciting time in Professional wrestling with the partnerships between House of Hardcore, Impact, Lucha Underground & New Japan to be rumored, can’t wait to see where this all goes. I’ll see you back at the temple next week.

OVERALL: 8.5/10
