TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… APRIL 23rd: Sting & Luger win The Crockett Cup

DATELINE: APRIL 23, 1988 – GREENSBORO COLISEUM -GREENSBORO, NC


Sting & Lex Luger defeat Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson in the finals to win the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup tag team tournament.

This was the third, and final, time the event was held. That fall, Ted Turner would purchase the company, and re-brand it as World Championship Wrestling. The Crockett Cup tournament was then eliminated from the promotion’s annual schedule.
