TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… APRIL 8th: The Last Stand of the AWA

DATELINE: APRIL 8, 1990 – ST. PAUL CIVIC CENTER – ST. PAUL, MN


The American Wrestling Association presents Superclash IV, where Larry Zbysko regains the AWA World Heavyweight title from Masa Saito.

With the company in its waning days, the event drew only about 2,000 fans and was a foreshadowing of what was coming for the legendary promotion: The AWA stopped producing television programming a few months later, and would fold the next year after filing for bankruptcy.
