TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… JAN 2nd: Double A Defeats Muta for the TV title

DATELINE: JAN 2, 1990  – GAINESVILLE, GA


At an NWA Power Hour taping, Arn Anderson defeated The Great Muta to win the NWA World Television Championship.

The match would air on the January 12th edition of the show. Anderson would, of course, go on to become almost synonymous with the World Television title. His victory over Muta marked his second reign as champion, and would last 336 days. 

Anderson would cement his TV title legacy by capturing the belt a total of four times, and holding it for a combined 877 days- almost 200 days longer than anyone else.
