TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… JULY 22nd: Vince McMahon Acquitted

DATELINE: JULY 22ND, 1994 – EASTERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK

After 16 hours of deliberations over two days,  Vince McMahon is acquitted on federal charges that he conspired to distribute steroids.

The prosecution’s star witness was originally supposed to be Hulk Hogan, but the Hulkster eventually testified that McMahon never ordered him to take, nor sold him steroids. McMahon himself also testified, and admitted that he had taken steroids during the 1980s.

After the jury acquitted McMahon of the charges, he resumed his role in the day-to day operations of the WWF.
