DATELINE: MAY 17, 1963 – MADISON SQUARE GARDEN – NEW YORK, NY


Bruno Sammartino defeats Buddy Rogers in under a minute to win the WWWF Championship, and dominates the title until 1971.

Sammartino would hold the championship until January 18, 1971 (2,803 days).

It was a dominating 400 weeks with the title, as Sammartino firmly established himself as not only the the face of the company, but also a 60’s cultural icon, and an ambassador for professional wrestling in New York City.
