TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… NOV 24th: A Flair for the Gold

DATELINE: NOV. 24, 1983 – GREENSBORO COLISEUM – GREENSBORO, NC


Jim Crockett Promotions presented Starrcade: A Flair for the Gold . The event drew a sold-out 15,447 in attendance, with about 30,000 more watching on closed-circuit television in locations throughout the South. 

The show is highlighted by Ric Flair’s historic victory over Harley Race for the NWA World’s Heavyweight title. It was the first time the sacred ‘ten pounds of gold’ changed hands inside a steel cage, and marked The Nature Boy’s second championship victory.
