TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… SEPT. 23rd: Herb Abrams’ UWF rolls the dice with ‘Blackjack Brawl’

DATELINE: SEPT. 23, 1994 – MGM GRAND ARENA – LAS VEGAS, NV

Herb Abrams’ Universal Wrestling Federation presented Blackjack Brawl, airing on SportsChannel America, and -in a harbinger of the night’s events – was joined already in progress due to a baseball game ending later than expected.

The event, which was critically panned, was voted Wrestling Observer Newsletter‘s Worst Show of 1994.

After months of inactivity, the UWF would officially fold in 1996, after Abrams died of heart attack.
