TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… SEPT. 9th: Ric Flair makes his WWF debut

DATELINE: SEPT. 9, 1991 – WWF PRIME TIME WRESTLING


Ric Flair, having signed with the World Wrestling Federation after a fallout with WCW President Jim Herd, appears on television with the Big Gold Belt, calling himself “The Real World Champion”.

He is accompanied by Bobby Heenan, who LITERALLY rolls out a red carpet for The Nature Boy. The pair flash Flair’s giant title belt for the cameras and immediately call out WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan.
