TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… APRIL 1st: Hogan & Warrior blow the roof off the Skydome


1990 – In an epic encounter at WrestleMania VI, The Ultimate Warrior defeats Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight title in front of 67,000 fans in Toronto. 

It was the first time in company history that both WWF singles championships were on the line in the same match. Shortly after his victory, Warrior would relinquish his Intercontinental title. Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) would fill the vacancy by defeating Tito Santana in a tournament final, three weeks later.

The revolutionary SkyDome had debuted less than a year earlier, and was a perfect, acoustic amplifier for the raucous Canadian crowd:
