TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… NOV. 5th: Benoit breaks Sabu’s neck

DATELINE: NOVEMBER 5, 1994 –  ECW ARENA – PHILADELPHIA, PA

At ECW’s November to Remember, Chris Benoit throws Sabu for an overhead toss and miscalculates, breaking his neck. The match is stopped and ruled a no-contest, as Sabu had to be helped to the back.

2 Cold Scorpio came out as a replacement to face Benoit. The bout went to a double countout. In a time that pre-dated the internet, footage of the backdrop began circulating among known wrestling ‘tape traders’. Due to this, Benoit would earn his famous moniker, The Crippler.
