TODAY IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY… NOV 8th: Bock wins the Belt

DATELINE: NOV 8, 1975 – ST. PAUL, MN

Nick Bockwinkel defeats Verne Gagne to win the AWA World Championship for the first time.

The loss ended an astoundingly long title reign for Gagne, who had the belt for 2,625 consecutive days. Bockwinkel would go on to have a long reign as well, holding the belt for over four-and-a half years before being beaten by (once again) Verne Gagne in 1980.
