Chris Barton Adkisson, known to wrestling fans as Chris Von Erich, tragically takes his own life in Denton, TX. He was the sixth and youngest son of the legendary Texas wrestling family.

Von Erich had attempted to follow in the footsteps of his father and brothers, but was limited due to childhood illnesses that stunted his growth and caused his bones to be extremely brittle.

Frustrated and depressed over the deaths of his brothers and his inability to make headway as a wrestler due to his physical build, Chris Von Erich shot himself, just eighteen days before his 22nd birthday.

  1. In the very brief time he worked in the business, we saw a young man who had such enthusiasm. Unlike his brother Mike, Chris really wanted to be there. As much as Mike had the look of an unhappy man who did not want to be there, Chris was upbeat, enthusiastic, and obviously wanted to be there. But health was not on his side. A damn shame.
