WWE has negated the brand split so much that it’s time to just give in and pull the plug on the company’s faux brand extension.
The week after WrestleMania 35 back in April, WWE hosted a “Superstar Shakeup” that was supposed to transition top names like AJ Styles and The Miz to Raw while making Roman Reigns and Finn Balor SmackDown-exclusive stars for the first time in their careers. Mere weeks later, however, WWE rendered the brand split pointless when Vince McMahon returned on Raw and announced the creation of the new “Wild Card” rule, which WWE.com explained was one that would allow a select number of stars to cross over to the opposite brand each week.
